Curriculum Overview
At Fabius-Pompey Elementary, our curriculum is designed to provide consistency, alignment to New York State standards, and engaging learning experiences that help every student grow. Guided by our district’s Strategic Plan Goal #2, we are working to ensure that learning is connected from PreK through grade 12. This means students build on their knowledge and skills each year in a clear and meaningful way.
PreK–2 Focus Areas
In PreK–2, our focus is on nurturing social-emotional development while building strong foundational literacy and numeracy skills, providing the essential building blocks for lifelong learning.- Math: Eureka Math² (PreK–5)
- ELA: Really Great Reading (PreK–2), Heggerty (phonemic awareness) (PreK–2)
- Science & Social Studies: BOCES Smithsonian Science Kits, teacher-created materials
- Social-Emotional Learning: Second Step (PreK), mental health team–created lessons (K–5), Responsive Classroom practices (PreK–5)

Grades 3–5 Focus Areas
In Grades 3–5, students build on foundational skills through more structured literacy and math instruction, with a growing emphasis on independence, critical thinking, and applying skills across subject areas.- Math: Eureka Math² (PreK–5)
- ELA: Wit & Wisdom (3–5)
- Science & Social Studies: Incorporated into Wit & Wisdom, BOCES Smithsonian Science Kits, teacher-created materials

As a school community, we are working to create a consistent learning experience across all grades so that each year builds on the last. This commitment ensures that students are well-prepared not only for the next grade level, but also for future success in middle school, high school, and beyond.
