DO NOT send your student to school if they are sick!!
Your student will be sent home when presenting with a fever 100 degrees or greater and/or vomiting. They should be fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever free medication or (vomiting free for 24 hours) prior to the return of school.
PLEASE SEND ANY UPDATED IMMUNIZATIONS TO THE HEALTH OFFICE!
New York State Education Department mandates for Health Examinations:
NYSED requires a physical examination for new entrants and students in Grades Pre-K, K, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 & 11 as well as annually for interscholastic sports; and working papers as needed; or as required by the Committee on Special Education (CSE) or Committee on Pre-School Special education (CPSE).
Health Care Tips
- Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for 20 seconds.
- Wear your mask if you have continuing symptoms (and a negative covid test).
- Cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze and or cough.
- Try to keep your hands away from your face and eyes. Cold and flu viruses enter the body through your nose, eyes and mouth.
- Do not come to school when you are sick.
- Wear sunscreen when you go outside. Wear insect repellent as instructed with assistance of an adult.
- Wear your helmet when riding a bicycle or skiing/snowboarding.Remember to eat healthy foods, drink plenty of fluids, exercise daily, and get the proper amount of rest at night.
- Get plenty of rest/sleep at night.
- Eat healthy foods!
- Exercise daily and try to get outside and play!
Medications:
According to New York State Law, nurses are restricted from giving any internal medication except on written directions by the physician of a pupil. This includes all medications such as aspirin, nose drops, decongestants, antibiotics, etc. If your child needs to take medicine during school hours, please have your doctor send a written note stating the child's name, the name of the medication, the amount of medicine to be taken, the hour it is to be given, and the date the medication is to be stopped.
***Emails and phone messages are checked periodically throughout the day but only on school days during school hours.
Stay at home if you have any Covid-19 symptoms and perform a home covid antigen test before returning to school.
Notify health office of any changes in emergency contact information (home phone number, cell phone number and or address change).
All students who are 11 years or older entering 6th grade in the fall are required to have a Tdap immunization. Students who are 10 years old entering 6th grade need the vaccine on or after their 11th birthday.
