First Grade Fieldtrip - Hospital Land
On April 1st, 2nd and 3rd, each of the first grade classes took a fieldtrip to Hospital Land. This wonderful program for first-graders in the county is sponsored by Crouse Hospital. After getting settled in, the students were put into a role playing activity where a child being admitted to a hospital was simulated. Students played the patient, parents, nurses and all other facets of the experience. The goal of the program is to familiarize the children with a hospital visit and help alleviate the stress that can accompany it. After the role-playing was over, the students had four different stations to visit – a hospital bed, a gurney, a wheelchair and one where they could put on casts and use crutches. After leaving, many students commented that it was one of the best fieldtrips ever! Our thanks go to Crouse Hospital and the awesome bus drivers who took us there and back safely.
