Chess has continued to thrive at the Fabius Pompey Middle-High School Library.  Chess Board are available during any point in the day and the Chess Cart a common fixture in the lunchroom.  Fabius Pompey has a long tradition of Chess and we are excited to inspire a new generation of chess players.

We have beginners to advanced players - all are welcome to play from 4th grade to 12th grade and beyond.  We have a few elementary students who come over to join our Middle and High School players.  Nearly thirty students take part in Chess after-school on Wednesdays.  Every other Wednesday we have Bob Nasiff, Grandmaster of Syracuse, come teach the students new chess moves.  Bob Nasiff is also the Tournament Coach of which FP has competed in both tournaments this year. 
FP Chess has competed in both the October and November tournament.  We just missed a trophy in October but we were so excited for our win in November.  November’s tournament located in CS Drive Middle School in Marcellus awarded us the 3rd place team trophy!  There were over 95 individual players ranging from 1st to 12th grade!  Congratulations to Mason Wagner, Wyatt Drexler, Nicholas Skeval, and Walter Kirkeby who won the team trophy.  An individual trophy was awarded to Will Skeval for 10th place!  Awesome job by all players.  Thank you also to the families who support us!
