Spirit Week Lives on During COVID

This has been a year like no other and trying to keep the spirit of Fabius-Pompey alive has been challenging.  The Student Council took on the challenge head on and came up with some creative ways to keep that spirit alive.  With so many students being quarantined or virtual it was important to come up with ways to involve both in person and virtual students.  Engagement is a big part of what Student Council’s task includes each year whether it is through Falcon Day, Pep Rallies, Spirit Weeks, or

During our first Student Council meeting the group came up with a few ways to celebrate the holiday spirit.  To celebrate our seniors the Student Council solitied encouraging messages from staff and underclassmen for our seniors and put them into holiday stockings.  We also purchased a subscription to Goosechase app, a digital scavenger hunt app, which allowed us to create challenges each day of Spirit Week.  It included trivia, challenges, and artwork that allowed remote and in person students to participate.  We were also able to honor our sports players by including challenges to take photos with a member of those teams, clubs, and performances.  Both staff and students had so much fun and many mentioned that it brought back some of the fun of the holiday season.  Prizes were awarded to the top three participants.  

Lastly, we had students vote on an activity to replace our normal pep rally which was not feasible this year.  Student Council representatives canvassed their constituents and all agreed that a movie would be a great idea.  The student body voted on seven different choices and the winner was Home Alone, a classic.  Both virtual and in person students participated.  It was a nice end to the day before Holiday Break.
