I am in awe that it is June already!! Where did this year go? I have watched my fourth graders turn into almost-fifth graders and I know that they will be wonderful next year!! Thank you so much for sharing your children with me, I will miss them.
Even though there are only 8 more days of actual classes, we are still trying to finish up some loose ends in the classroom. We still need those healthy snacks (I've seen a lot of fresh fruit coming in these last few weeks!) and please feel free to send your child in with a water bottle. It can get quite steamy up on the third floor.
I am very pleased to see many of the students bringing in sneakers to change into at recess on those warm days that they wear flip flops. The wood chips on the playground can be quite sharp and I would hate to see anyone get hurt.
The Pompey Field Days start on Wednesday and end on Saturday. What a great opportunity to spend some quality time with your family and support your local volunteer fire department at the same time. Please remember if it's warm out to put on sunscreen and drink lots of water.
Be sure to spend lots of time outside this summer getting lots of exercise. Rainy days are the perfect opportunity to catch up on your reading. Each grade level has a summer reading requirement that each student is expected to meet by the first day of school in September. Try to have a book on-hand for your child everywhere you go. Long car trips and waiting at the doctor's office are perfect times to get in a couple of pages.
